Thu 31st Oct

Our monthly series Doc/Nights with Doc'n Roll makes its return to our Cinema on Thursday 31st of October. This month we're bringing you a screening of Manchester Keeps on Dancing followed by a Q&A with Director Javi Senz, hosted by DJ and broadcaster Aly Gillani.

Synopsis:

Manchester Keeps on Dancing is a feature length film that documents - in exceptional detail - the arrival of House music into Manchester from Chicago in the 1980s, through to the Acid House explosion of 1988 and the following 30 years of its phenomenal rise to today.

This documentary by Madrid filmmaker Javi Senz goes much deeper than the Haçienda and instead digs into archive footage that has never before been seen on film. Alongside in-depth interviews, Manchester Keeps On Dancing educates viewers on how house music arrived in the city in the early 1980s, and takes them on a journey through the rich tapestry of its success and memorable stories.

Featuring Krysko, Marshall Jefferson, Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier, Seth Troxler, Andrew Weatherall, Mike Pickering, Greg Wilson, Justin Robertson, Ralph Lawson, Luke Unabomber, Dave Haslam, James Holroyd, Colin Curtis, Mike Shaft, Will Tramp, Metrodome and many more.

The screening will be hosted in our 100-seat cinema space; the event is free with booking required. A very limited number of walk-in tickets will be available on the day, on a first come, first served basis.

This event is supported by Film Hub London, managed by Film London. Proud to be a partner of the BFI Film Audience Network, funded by the National Lottery.
