Art Film Music
On Saturday November 2nd we're teaming up with Artists in Transit to host a full day of music, workshops, films and more, raising awareness of issues of migration and to celebrate the small acts of kindness as forms of solidarity.
We're kicking things off from 12pm with panel talks, film screenings, a retrospective photographic exhibition on the work carried out by AIT in areas affected by refugee fluxes, a line of workshops hosted mainly by volunteers who have worked with AIT over the years and so much more.
From 7pm Artists in Transit are hosting a music showcase with performances by Nilüfer Yanya, Joviale and Brian Nasty. You'll need to reserve a free ticket for this!
About Artists in Transit:
Founded in 2015 by volunteers travelling to Kos, Artists in Transit is a community of artists and activists who deliver art workshops to communities of refugee children and young people living in temporary accommodation, with the aim to deliver creative, inspiring and enjoyable workshops whilst offering a safe space for learning and therapeutic play.
Pulling from joint experiences of working with refugee communities within London and teaching art to children, they drew up a workshop plan and returned to Kos 6 months later to run AIT in a refugee camp. Since then, AIT's group of volunteers has delivered over 80 workshops to hundreds of children in Athens consisting of painting, sewing, t-shirt printing, stencilling, mural painting, jewellery making, photography and so much more.
